SAN DIEGO — Thanks to an atmospheric river driven storm that moved through San Diego County over the past few days, record rainfall was reported in several areas, according to the National Weather Service.
Record breaking rains were reported in Oceanside Harbor where 4.21 inches of rain was reported, breaking the record for the day of 0.6 inches in 1982, in Vista, where 2.24 inches of rain was reported, breaking the record for the day of 0.73 inches set in 2003 and in Alpine, where 1.80 inches of rain was reported, breaking the record for the day of 1.61 inches set in 1952.
In Ramona 1.73 inches of rain was reported, enough to break the 2003 record of 1.24 inches and in Campo, 1.17 inches of rain was reported, breaking the record for the day of 0.86 inches set in 1987.

A small chance of rain is in the forecast for Friday through Sunday with light winds and temperatures in the 60s. It will be partly cloudy and breezy with highs from 60 to 65 Thursday in San Diego.
In addition to heavy rains, numerous road closures in both the incorporated and unincorporated areas of the county were reported throughout the duration of the storm.

Currently, westbound State Route 78 is closed for emergency repairs after a sinkhole opened on the roadway following reports of flooding.
Other roads that were closed, according to the county Department of Public Works included 13th at Main and Walnut streets in Ramona, Ivy Dell between Jesmond Dene Park and North Centre City Parkway in Escondido and Cole Grade Road from Spring Valley to Old Cole Grade in Valley Center.
Also closed were, Sandia Creek from Santa Margarita Preserve to Rock Mountain in the De Luz area, Discovery Street from San Marcos Boulevard to San Pablo Drive in Lake San Marcos and El Montevideo from San Elijo to Via De Fortuna in Rancho Santa Fe.
Twin Peaks Road from Pomerado Road to Community Road in and Harmony Grove Road, between Wilgen Road and Wild Willow in Poway, Magnolia Avenue from state Route 78 and Magnolia Heights Road and Raymond Street and H Street in Ramona, were also closed due to flooding.
All of the roadways, with the exception of westbound State Route 78 which is closed for emergency repairs after a sinkhole opened on the roadway following reports of flooding, have reopened, the county reported this morning.
The National Weather Service reported rain totals of 2 inches for North County communities on Wednesday, including Carlsbad and Oceanside; 1.5inches in the county’s central region; between 1 and 1.25 inches in the South County region; and 1.5 to 2.5 inches in East County communities, including El Cajon, Santee and Poway.
The mountain areas received the most rain, with 4.92 inches at Palomar Mountain, 2 inches in Julian and 1 inch of rain at Mount Laguna.
