LONG BEACH, CA — A motorcyclist died in an underground parking garage in Long Beach after losing control of her bike and crashing into a wall, the Long Beach Police Department announced Tuesday.

According to authorities, the crash happened on March 18 around 10:55 a.m. at the 1200 block of East San Antonia Drive. When officers arrived to the parking garage, they said the found the woman unconscious and suffering from serious injuries.

The woman, a 32-year-old resident of Long Beach, was driving in the garage when she accelerated and lost control of a three-wheeled Can-Am Ryker and collided head-on into a wall, according to preliminary investigation findings.

According to a statement released by LBPD, the woman was not wearing a helmet at the time of her accident. Paramedics transported the woman to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries.

Officers said they were notified of the woman’s death at the hospital on Tuesday.

The driver’s identity was not provided pending notification of her family, LBPD said.
