JOLIET, IL —A 47-year-old Joliet man who considers the Daybreak Shelter his residence faces two counts of aggravated battery and one count of criminal sexual abuse following an incident along the walkway for the Cass Street Bridge, according to court records.

As of Wednesday, Derrick Bester had not been captured by Joliet police. Bester was in the Will County Jail from April 28 until May 3 after being arrested on an unrelated case involving two counts of violating an order of protection.

According to this week’s criminal complaint, filed by Will County prosecutors:

On April 26, Bester knowingly committed an act of sexual conduct with the woman in that said defendant, by the use of force, knowingly grabbed her by her hoodie and pulled her toward him and fondled her breast for the purpose of the sexual gratification or arousal.

The aggravated battery charges accuse Bester of fondling the woman’s breasts while on a public way, the Cass Street Bridge and grabbing the woman by her hoodie.

Bester has been in the Will County Jail a total of three different times already this year, plus he was also in custody from Dec. 5 until Jan. 13, in connection with a violating an order of protection case, jail logs show.
