PITTSBURGH, PA — After a stunning upset in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Thursday, the Duquesne Dukes will face another tough challenge on Saturday.

The Dukes will pit their 25-11 record against the Big Ten Illinois Fighting Illini’s 27-8 record Saturday in Omaha. The game will occur at 8:40 on Saturday in Omaha.

The Dukes are 9.5-point underdogs against Illinois. But they were 9.5 point underdog Thursday against BYU and upset the team with a 71-67 victory. Duquesne is a number 11 seed in the tournament, BYU was a sixth seed.

The Dukes were making their first tournament appearance since 1977. The victory was their first tournament win since 1969.

Duquesne players said prior to the game that they were extra motivated to win after coach Keith Dambrot announced his impending retirement this week at the season’s conclusion.
