Vernon residents who need a ride to the market can contact the Hockanum Valley Community Council at 860-870-7940 to schedule a ride. Calls must be made before 4 p.m. on the day of the market.

“Getting fresh, healthy produce and other foods into the hands of Vernon residents is one of our goals with this revived farmers market,” Vernon Mayor Dan Champagne said. “Offering free rides to the market ensures everyone can get there.”

Bringing back the local market has been bantered about for some time and the Vernon Town Council recently approved the concept. The dates and location were made public this week.

One complication is that no funds are allocated for the market n the town budget, so to help offset costs, donations are being accepted through a donation page on Patronicity.com
