NORTHBROOK, IL — Opening day is here for the new Lazy Dog Restaurant in Northbrook. It marks the fourth Chicago Metro location for the California-based restaurant chain.

The first 100 guests to 992 Willow Road Tuesday will be welcomed with a complimentary month of the restaurant chain’s loyalty program, Lazy Dog Campfire Club, which offers “next-generation” exclusive perks and rewards, according to the company.

As Patch reported last year, there are currently more than 40 Lazy Dog restaurants across eight states: California, Florida, Nevada, Texas, Colorado, Illinois, Georgia and Virginia. The Northbrook location is at the former Granite City Food & Brewery, which closed in October 2019. The other Chicago-area locations are in Naperville, Oak Brook and Vernon Hills. The chain is also looking to possibly open another location in Buffalo Grove.

The restaurants are designed with a “warm interior” and lodge-inspired furnishings like fireplaces, ledge stone, chandeliers crafted from Aspen logs and artwork “reminiscent of the Cowboy State,” founder and CEO Chris Simms told Patch at the time. A large outdoor patio was built around a cozy firepit for gatherings with friends and family.

“We have a long-standing tradition of hospitality in my family and have gathered the knowledge and traditions of three generations to create something we hope will be a special place for families and friends,” Simms said. “We serve handcrafted American food and drink with seasonally inspired high-quality ingredients and make every meal by hand each day, including all of our sauces, marinades and dressings.”

According to Lazy Dog, as part of the Northbrook restaurant’s pre-opening festivities, it hosted private fundraising events to benefit Habitat for Humanity. A ribbon cutting with the Northbrook Chamber of Commerce will take place on opening day.

Lazy Dog’s menu, which focuses on comfort food, changes throughout the year to highlight seasonal ingredients. Handcrafted cocktails and a wide selection of craft beers are also popular. The restaurant is open for lunch, dinner and brunch on the weekend.
