PLAINFIELD, IL — A garage fire erupted Friday morning at a house in the 16400 block of South Winding Creek Road, officials said.
The house remains habitable but sustained about $50,000 in damage, according to a news release from the Plainfield Fire Protection District.
The Western Will County Communication Center received a 911 call at about 10:16 a.m. from someone reporting a garage was on fire. Crews arrived at the house within five minutes and found all residents had evacuated from the single-family house.

Firefighters deployed a hose line and extinguished the fire. Upon searching for extension and overhauling the property, crews determined the fire was contained to the attached garage, according to a news release.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation but has been deemed accidental, officials said.

Nicor and ComEd were called to the scene to secure utilities. No firefighters or residents were injured in the incident.
Lockport, Joliet and Troy crews assisted on the scene while Bolingbrook, Bristol Kendall and Naperville personnel provided station coverage.
