Opening a cannabis business in New Jersey is a multistep process that requires state licensing and local-government approval. In Gloucester Township, a business must receive initial support from council members.

A successful vote from Township Council would essentially confirm that Puff Ganga would be conducting business in a zone where dispensaries can operate. That support is conditioned upon Puff Ganga acquiring a license from the state cannabis commission and receiving approval from the township zoning board within the next year.

Puff Ganga would be located in a strip mall across the street from ShopRite of Laurel Hill.

At Monday’s council meeting, the vote on Puff Ganga is part of the consent agenda — a set of resolutions considered routine matters, which can all be passed in a single vote without a public hearing.

The Township Council meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Here’s the agenda.
