FAIRFAX, VA — With all 181 precincts reporting on Wednesday, Democrat Gerry Connolly is the winner in Virginia’s 11th Congressional District race.

More than two-thirds of the voters in Fairfax County and Fairfax City cast ballots for Connolly, according to unofficial election results reported to the State Board of Elections.

Any Republican running in the 11th district would likely have a tough time winning. According to the 2024 Cook Political Report’s House Race Ratings, the district is considered solidly Democratic and Wednesday’s numbers bear that out.

Dear Friends,

Firstly, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported me throughout this campaign. It has been a remarkable journey, and I am deeply thankful for the opportunity to represent our values and beliefs in this race.

Despite the results, I believe our movement has made a positive impact. We’ve shone a spotlight on critical issues that we feel deserve urgent attention, and that in itself is a victory.

I’d like to congratulate Gerry Connolly on his win. The voters have spoken, and I respect their decision. Gerry, I hope to meet with you soon so we can discuss how I might lend my experience and service to your administration. I believe in putting the needs of our community first and foremost, and I am willing to assist in any way I can.

In other news, I am also thrilled to see President Trump re-elected. His leadership will be instrumental in addressing the issues we’ve highlighted throughout our campaign.
To my supporters, remember that our work here is not done. I am honored to have been your candidate for Congress, and I will continue to be a voice for those concerned about our future. Together, we can strive for a better future and a government that truly represents the people.

Thank you once again for your unwavering support and belief in our cause. This journey is far from over.

Yours sincerely,
Mike Van Meter

The 11th district includes all of Fairfax City, and the towns of Clifton, Herndon and Vienna, and the portions of Fairfax County that are roughly west and south of the Capital Beltway/I-95 corridor.

Provisional and post-election ballots are the only votes left to count. The first are ballots that voters cast if they were registering at the polls on Election Day. Post-election ballots are those that are postmarked by 7 p.m. on Nov. 5 and received by the local general registrar no later than 12 p.m. on the third day following Election Day, according to the state board of elections. Ballots that have the correct postmark but are not received by the deadline will not be counted.
