RONKONKOMA, NY — Three people were taken to the hospital after three separate crashes — two on the Long Island Expressway and another on its service road — during rush hour on Thursday, Suffolk police said.
In the first two-vehicle crash on the westbound LIE in Medford at around 5:14 p.m., two people were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. In the second two-vehicle crash, 12 minutes later at 5:26 p.m., no one was injured, police said.
The third crash in Ronkonkoma at around 5:15 p.m. involved three vehicles — all three traveling eastbound on Express Drive South, near Sycamore Avenue, when the second and third vehicles crashed into the bumper of the car in front of it, according to police.
