HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —The goal is at least 20 patrol cars.

But on this brisk Saturday morning at Horsham Giant, that goal wasn’t looking so promising.

“I hope we can get to 20,” Gary Bissig of Horsham Community Police Services told Patch as patrol car No. 8 drove away with donations, headed to the St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry.

Despite the December chill, the donations kept coming: Patch donated a bag of pasta and canned goods and Hatboro-Horsham Schools Superintendent Scott Eveslage also gave police officers a bag of food.

By the end of the day, the Horsham Township Police Department’s Pack the Patrol Car 2024 was a success, not only topping the 20-car mark but setting a new record.

“We filled a record 25 vehicles full of food,” Horsham ChATs said.

Horsham ChATs thanked the hundreds of community members who turn out year after year to show up to support the event.

“Your generosity is humbling,” Horsham ChATs said.

A lot of work goes into hosting such an event, but the partners of Horsham Giant, Cub Scout Troops 39 and 410, all the volunteers from St . Vincent De Paul think nothing of it.

Meanwhile, Horsham ChATs’ Town Watch Special Details Team was also on hand along with Lts. Larry Bozzomo and Jeff Woodruff and Police Officer Barrington Ramsay were all talking to those who came by to drop off donations, taking their bags, and loading up the patrol cars.

Andrea Kelly, who runs the event, was there to coordinate everything and keep the line moving.
