GLEN ELLYN, IL — Glen Ellyn residents can honor those who served in the armed forces during a Veterans Day Ceremony planned for Nov. 11 at the Lake Ellyn Boathouse.

Where: Lake Ellyn Boathouse, 645 Lenox Rd., Glen Ellyn
The ceremony will start at 11 a.m. with bagpipe music accompanying members of the United States Army and the village’s fire department as they perform the presentation of the colors, Mike Fomento, Commander of Glen Ellyn American Legion Post 3, told Patch.

Glenbard West High School’s choir will sing the National Anthem, followed by remarks from Vietnam veteran and retired U.S. Army Sergeant Don Kent. Linda Nystrom, regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution, will also share sentiments.
Members of the band from Glenbard South High School will play patriotic songs and end the ceremony with a rendition of “Taps.”
Fomento said each family who attends will receive a small American flag.
He added, “Veterans Day is a time to remember the tremendous contributions of our veterans and to express our profound gratitude for their unwavering commitment to protecting our freedoms. If you love your freedom, thank a veteran.”
